The Mississippi Chapter of HFMA is celebrating our 60th year anniversary. It is an honor to be part of an organization that has such a long, successful history.

The HFMA annual year began June 1, which means the first quarter of our 2011-2012 year is already almost complete. In this short time span, a lot has taken place. The Chapter leadership returned from Leadership Training sponsored by the National Chapter of HFMA. The National organization brings together all the chapters throughout the United States to a forum where ideas and successes are shared in order for all chapters to be the best they can be for our members. The meeting was attended by the Chapter officers, Education, Newsletter and Membership Chair positions. We all returned energized and excited about our chapter and the opportunity in front of us to make our organization even stronger. We are already off to a great start.

Our first meeting for the New Year was held in Ridgeland, MS at the Embassy Suites which was a new location for us. The meeting was well attended and the reviews from the attendees were very favorable! The topics covered were current, poignant, and well presented.

Our August Summer Workshop which is going to be held in Philadelphia, MS at the Silverstar Resort is just ahead. Our Education committee has worked hard to bring to our members a variety of educational sessions which will further our professional development.

My goals as President over the next year are for our chapter to be THE Education Resource for the Healthcare Industry in our state and also to encourage our members to develop relationships with their peers in order to develop a strong network base. As a manager in the field of healthcare finance, HFMA has been an invaluable resource, keeping myself and my staff current in the ever changing environment in which we work.  I hope to give back to HFMA a little to show my appreciation.

Each year the national leadership presents a theme and this year our theme is BELIEVE TO ACHIEVE. The Healthcare industry is constantly evolving and changing. The changes have been vast over the last 60 years since our Chapter was established and I am sure the next 60 years will be just as filled with change. If we Believe in our mission as healthcare providers, we will Achieve and your chapter of HFMA will be here to aid in our journey along the way.

Hope to see each of you this year at one of our meetings! If it has been awhile since you last attended a meeting, please come and get reacquainted. See you soon.

Respectfully,

Lexie Fuller
President
